Letter from the Library Manager
Welcome to your library! I’m thrilled to invite you to everything Sherwood Public Library offers.
I believe in the power of public libraries to transform lives and help us each reach our potential. I see this every day through the services we provide, the lives we touch, and the relationships built.
The public library is the ultimate possibilities place. What other venue is open to everyone, requires no fee to enjoy the services, offers high-level staff assistance, provides resources on almost any topic, and provides classes and events for all ages from newborns through adulthood?
Take a look at how we are constantly evolving to best meet the community's needs with our strategic planning and community engagement. We are prioritizing equity, diversity, and inclusion and strengthening our convictions as an antiracist institution. I welcome your input and involvement.
Whether you love to read, are just learning, or are working on early literacy —we have resources and staff to help you and your family at whatever level is right for you.
Today’s library is about more than reading. We offer life-long learning through classes, events, an accessible collection, and play. We want you to experience the joy of discovery here, and that includes children's museum-like activities for the kids for learning through play in our children's area.
Each month we offer a variety of events and classes for all ages. From storytimes to citizenship classes, writing workshops to 3D printing, and family-friendly cultural events.
We are working to even the playing field so everyone has access to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) resources through our Library of Things, our new 3D printing service, and our events.
Staff are here to connect you to the information you need. From technology training to financial literacy, learning a language, job-hunting, test-prep, homework help, tax resources, navigating new stages of life, and small-business resources-- we can help you reach your goals.
Want us to provide a customized class, tour, or presentation? Contact us to schedule one just for your group.
Our doors are open seven days a week. Our online services are available 24/7. Stream a movie, get an e-book in an instant, find a trustworthy answer to a question in our premier online resources, or get customized recommendations delivered via email.
It all starts with a library card. Come visit us and see how the library can open new possibilities for you.
Sincerely,
Adrienne Doman Calkins, MLIS
