Sherwood Public Library supports life-long learning for patrons from birth through adulthood and is proud to be the community’s living room.

Sherwood Public Library is the southern-most library in Washington County, where we serve a population of nearly 25,000 people with informational, educational, cultural and recreational resources, services and programming using innovative approaches while honoring the value of traditional library practices. We welcome patrons from all walks of life, encourage and support an informed citizenry, and share the value of the Library with everyone through free and equitable access.

Each month, about 22,000 people visit the library. Total annual circulation of library materials is nearly 374,000. See our annual report for more details and service stories.

As a member of Washington County Cooperative Library Services (WCCLS), Sherwood Public Library provides access to over 1.7 million items from our County libraries. The local collection of over 52,000 items offers more than just books. The Library also has Blu-Rays, DVDs, CDs, magazines, newspapers, audio books—in addition to e-books, downloadable audiobooks, and a Library of Things with tools, gadgets, games and more for checkout.

Our facility is 14,400 square feet, where we provide free wireless access to our patrons through Sherwood Broadband, 13 public internet stations, a cozy fireplace reading area and plenty of natural light. Online access to learning resources is provided for free from WCCLS and the State Library of Oregon. Our children's area features interactive play opportunities with a ball run, puppets, puzzles, and more.

Sherwood Public Library offers full reference and reader's advisory services, interlibrary loan access to libraries around the country, classes, workshops and programs for all ages. The enthusiastic and skilled staff at the Sherwood Library are dedicated to excellent public service and are eager to serve you. We are a team of 21 staff and 60 dedicated volunteers.

A Library Advisory Board, made up of nine voting members appointed by City Council, including one high school representative and one rural representative, meet monthly to provide an advisory role in services, policy, strategic planning and advocacy.

Funding for the Library operating budget is provided by Washington County Cooperative Library Services (approximately 64%) and the City of Sherwood (31%), with additional support for programming and services by Friends of the Sherwood Library, overdue fees, grants and donations.

For additional information about the governance of WCCLS, see www.wccls.org/about/governance. Sherwood Public Library has voting members at WCCLS Executive Board and Policy Group, in addition to committees and groups focused on target audiences and functions of countywide library services.
