Volunteering and Internships at the Library

Volunteer

Make a difference in your community at the Library! When you donate your time, talents and skills, you support and enhance the Library’s programs, services and mission. Plus you give the library the ability to stretch tax dollars and improve the lives of its citizens.

Frequently Asked Questions:

  • What volunteer jobs are available?

We have volunteers help with checking in returned books, pulling hold requests for patrons, assisting at various programs, and so much more. Have another idea for how you can help? Contact the Volunteer Coordinator.

  • What time commitment is expected of me as a Library Volunteer?

Weekly volunteers are asked to commit to a two hour shift once a week for the duration of at least three months. The time commitment for other volunteer opportunities vary depending on the position.

  • Do I have to have a set schedule?

Shift schedules can be flexible, however, they do need to be consistent. Staff need to know when to expect your help. Most positions require the shared use of work space and equipment between staff and volunteers, so committing to a consistent schedule is very important. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for available times.

  • How old do I need to be before I can volunteer?

Generally, applicants who are 14 years of age will be considered for Library volunteer positions.  However there are exceptions - TeenLAB and cleaning parties to name a couple.  Contact the Volunteer Coordinator to find out what might be available.

  • I am interested in volunteering! What do I do next?

Apply online here. When a position is available, the Volunteer Coordinator will contact you to schedule an interview to see what position might be a good fit for you.
