The Building Department provides plan review and inspections for both residential and commercial construction projects, including mechanical and plumbing permits.
(Electrical work performed within the city is permitted and inspected by Washington County.)

A permit is required to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, move or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, convert, or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system.
