Brookman Concept Plan Refinement

Brookman Road

About this Project

In 2009, the Sherwood City Council adopted The Brookman Addition Concept Plan. This plan helps to guide future development in the Brookman area.  In 2019, the City received a Metro 2040 Community Planning grant to refine this plan.  Ten years have passed since the plan’s adoption.  Many variables that go into planning have continued to change within the Sherwood community -- the new High School, ODOT requirements for a connection with Highway 99W, Washington County changing the classification of Brookman Road, annexation request, and land-use applications for new subdivisions in this area.

We heard and listened to roughly thirty Brookman community stakeholders in 2019. Key takeaways included:

  • Brookman Road is Not Safe Today
  • The Vision for Brookman Road Should Reflect the Area
  • Specific Interventions Needed (short-term and long-term improvements)
  • Need More Clarity on the Cost of the Project

The Project Team also interviewed and met with critical technical stakeholders, including the Oregon Department of Transportation, Oregon Department of Transportation Rail Division, Washington County Land Use and Transportation, Clackamas County Land Use and Transportation, Northwest Natural Gas, and recent developers.

The adopted Refinement Plan is found below.
