Human Resources
Overview
The Human Resources department operates within the Administrative Division, along with Finance, and IT. The Human Resources Department provides resources and guidance to departments, managers and City employees regarding recruiting and hiring, retention, benefits, classification and compensation, employee leaves, employee engagement, training, and labor relations. The Human Resources team also provides support in matters pertaining to and impacting staff by ensuring the distribution of critical information.

Application Process

After your account has been established, you can build an application by clicking on the “Build Job Application” link. This application can be saved and used to apply for more than one job opening. Some positions may require additional materials; if additional materials or information is required it will be noted and requested in the job announcement.
Selection Process
The City of Sherwood reviews all applications submitted by the closing date for advertised openings. All applications are reviewed and successful candidates are selected based on the applicants’ relevant knowledge, skills and abilities. Those selected for further consideration will be invited to an oral interview. Prior to hiring, the successful candidate may be asked to complete a satisfactory pre-employment criminal history background investigation and drug test.

The City of Sherwood participates in collective bargaining with two associations.
- The American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). The current AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on June 30, 2026.
- The Sherwood Police Officers’ Association (SPOA). The current SPOA Collective Bargaining Agreement expires on June 30, 2025.
