Washington St Street & Utility Improvements (Tualatin St to Division St)

The City uses a Pavement Management System which evaluates the condition of our roadways. This year, improvements on Washington Street include:

• Pavement rehabilitation between Tualatin St to Division St
• Sanitary sewer replacement between Willamette St to Division St
• Storm line extension between Tualatin St to Division St

PROJECT UPDATE (05/20/2026):
Pipe bursting operation for the sanitary sewer line will start on June 1, 2026 at 7am. There will a short closure (up to 15 minutes) of Pine/Division and full road closure (all day) of Division and Schamburg on 06/01/2026.

The contractor will be laying and fusing the pipe at Snyder Park and will start pulling the pipe north, towards Division and then west along Division, through Pine/Division intersection. This intersection will be flagged as the pipe is pulled across and traffic will be stopped up to 15 minutes. Please anticipate delays at this intersection or plan alternative routes.

Once the pipe is pulled past Pine Street, road closures along Division St and Schamburg Dr will begin. SW Division St, between Washington and Schamburg, and Schamburg Drive will be closed on June 1, 2026. Please use detour route as shown in the map below. The contractor will work with residents on Schamburg Drive for limited access.

PROJECT UPDATE (4/20/2026):
NWN is anticipated to complete their work by 4/23/2026. Construction and road closures for this project will start on 4/23. SW Washington Street between SW Division and SW Tualatin will be closed for majority of the project. SW Washington between SW Tualatin and SW Willamette and portions of SW Division will be closed for pipe bursting operations (tentatively scheduled for 5/18-5/20). Road closures will occur during work hours and the road will reopen overnight and weekends. Please see below for a link to detour routes.

PROJECT UPDATE (4/9/2026):
The contractor will start mobilizing on 4/13/2026. Work for this project is scheduled to start end of the month once NW Natural completes their portion of the work.

PROJECT UPDATE (3/30/2026):
Northwest Natural will be on site starting 4/1/2026 for preliminary work prior to the project.

PAST UPDATES:
Design for these improvements is starting in Fall 2025 and is anticipated begin construction in Spring 2026, with completion in Summer 2026. There will be a public meeting regarding this project. Please mark your calendar for:
