Sherwood Pedestrian Bridge- Open For Use August 26

August 20, 2025

Sherwood’s new Highway 99W Pedestrian Bridge will be open for use on August 26, 2025, just in time for the start of the school year. Please note, minor, ongoing construction will continue to take place until the grand opening event in late September – however, we will ensure that pedestrians can cross the bridge with ease. This modern footbridge, located near the intersection of SW Sunset Boulevard, provides a safe and convenient way for people walking and biking to cross 99W. With the new high school, Sherwood West expansion, YMCA, skatepark, and nearby housing developments on both sides of the highway, the bridge creates a vital connection for students, families, and the broader community.

The project broke ground in February 2024 and is being delivered on time and under budget. In addition to its safety and accessibility benefits, the bridge features architectural design elements and color-changing lighting that will make it a true gateway into Sherwood. Construction crews are completing landscaping and final details this summer, ensuring the area is welcoming and ready for daily use.

To celebrate this milestone, the City of Sherwood will host a Grand Opening Ribbon Cutting Party on September 27, 2025 – stay tuned for more details! This family-friendly event will mark the official completion of the project and highlight the community effort that made it possible. We hope you can join us as we celebrate Sherwood’s newest connection.
