Guidelines for Use of the Sherwood Highway 99W Pedestrian Bridge

The Sherwood Highway 99W Pedestrian Bridge is a public space open to everyone. The City of Sherwood supports your First Amendment rights to peacefully assemble and express your views. To ensure the bridge remains safe, accessible, and welcoming for all users, please follow these community guidelines.

You are welcome to:

  • Peacefully protest and express your views.
  • Carry signs, banners, or flags, provided they are handheld and do not create a danger to others or obstruct the walkway.

To keep everyone safe and maintain access for all users:

  • Stay clear of the roadway below: Do not throw, drop, or hang anything over the bridge or into Highway 99W or any other road.
  • Keep the bridge open: Do not block the full width of the walkway, entrances, or exits. Leave room for pedestrians, cyclists, and families to pass safely.
  • Do not affix signs or materials to the bridge, railings, or structure. All displays must remain handheld.
  • Do not disrupt traffic flow or impede use of any road (ORS 166.025).
  • Respect others and the space: Keep noise reasonable and clean up all trash and materials before leaving the area.
