Supporting Sherwood Residents During a Difficult Time

We know that this is a frightening and uncertain time for many in our community. Some residents are worried about getting to work, getting their children to school, or going about daily life. While the City of Sherwood cannot control the actions of federal agencies, we want every person who lives, works, or learns here to feel informed, supported, and safe.

Our commitment is to provide clear information, share available resources, and reaffirm that Sherwood Police are here to serve and protect all people in Sherwood.

What the City Can – and Cannot – Do

We cannot intervene in federal immigration operations.

Under federal law, local governments do not have the authority to interfere with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operations. Sherwood Police do not participate in or coordinate with ICE activities.

We do not enforce immigration law.

Sherwood Police:

  • Do not enforce immigration status or immigration laws
  • Do not ask about immigration status
  • Do not assist ICE with civil immigration enforcement
  • Will only respond if there is an immediate threat to life or public safety – and even then, only to address safety, not immigration enforcement

Here is a closer look at Sherwood’s Police Uniforms:

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you warn the community when ICE is coming or where they plan to be?

No. Sherwood Police do not receive notice of ICE operations and do not coordinate with ICE.

Can you confirm ICE activity?
