Volunteering & Internships

Make a difference in your community at the Library! When you donate your time, talents, and skills, you support and enhance the Library’s programs, services, and mission. Plus, you give the library the ability to stretch the budget and improve the lives of our community.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Weekly volunteers are asked to commit to a two-hour shift once a week for at least three months. The time commitment for other volunteer opportunities varies depending on the position.

Shift schedules can be flexible, however, they do need to be consistent. Staff need to know when to expect your help. Most positions require the shared use of work space and equipment between staff and volunteers, so committing to a consistent schedule is very important. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator for available times.

Generally, applicants who are 14 years of age will be considered for Library volunteer positions.  Youth volunteers may be eligible for Teen Volunteer Club or with family members at cleaning parties.  Contact the Volunteer Coordinator to find out what might be available.

We love to work with interns and practicum students and can offer professional experience to help launch your career and bolster your resume. We are limited in our staff capacity to manage internships and practicums, so each request is evaluated on a case-by-case basis. We do not have paid internships. Or, feel free to ask for a conversation about librarianship as a career to find out more about this field of study.
