Mobile Speed Safety Cameras Now Active (Warning-Only Period)
May 26, 2026Beginning Monday, May 25, 2026, the Sherwood Police Department’s expanded mobile photo enforcement program is officially active on Oregon St.
The expansion builds upon Sherwood’s existing intersection photo enforcement program, which has operated since 2010, and is intended to improve safety in areas where speeding and distracted driving have been ongoing community concerns.
As outlined in the Sherwood Police Department’s May 22 press release, the mobile photo enforcement units will be clearly visible and paired with advance warning signage and real-time speed display boards. Cameras are configured to detect vehicles traveling 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit, consistent with the City’s current photo enforcement standards.
From May 25 through June 22, 2026, the program will operate under a one-time warning-only period. During this time, drivers observed speeding will receive warning notices rather than citations. After the warning period concludes, citations will be issued for speeding violations.
The City will continue providing public communication and transparency regarding enforcement locations and program updates through the City’s website and social media channels.
