What is a Transportation System Plan?
A Transportation System Plan (TSP) is a long-range guide that helps shape the future of transportation in our community. It identifies transportation needs and guides future investments in roads, sidewalks, bike lanes, transit, and other mobility options to create a safe, efficient, and sustainable transportation network.
The plan considers how people travel throughout Sherwood, including opportunities to improve walking and bicycling connections, expand transportation choices, and provide safe routes to school for our youngest travelers.
Why is Sherwood Updating its TSP?
Sherwood’s current Transportation System Plan was adopted in 2014. State law requires cities to update their TSPs every 10 years to reflect changing community needs and transportation conditions.
This update will account for changes Sherwood has experienced since 2014 and establish a 20-year planning horizon to help guide future transportation decisions and investments. The project will update all elements of the existing TSP and may also identify potential amendments to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, Community Development Code, and other implementing documents.
The updated plan will help establish transportation priorities and guide how Sherwood’s transportation network develops over the coming years.
