Extreme Heat Warning Issued for Sherwood Area
June 12, 2026The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning for the Sherwood area from 11am Sunday through 11pm Tuesday.
Daytime temperatures are expected to reach between 95 and 100 degrees, with overnight lows remaining in the mid-60s. Limited overnight cooling may increase the risk of heat-related illness, especially for those without access to adequate cooling.
Residents seeking relief from the heat are welcome to visit the Sherwood Public Library during regular operating hours:
- Sunday: 1pm–5pm
- Monday–Wednesday: 10am–7pm
The City encourages residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged outdoor activity during the hottest parts of the day, and check on neighbors, family members, and others who may be vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
Additional cooling resources and information are available through Washington County’s Stay Cool program. Residents can view cooling center locations and other heat-relief resources at StayCoolWashingtonCounty.com.
Welcome to the City of Sherwood’s Notification System, the city’s latest tool for providing residents with immediate information and warnings on water contamination, extreme weather warnings, unexpected road closures, etc. This is a free service provided by the City of Sherwood.
