Why can’t I wash out my painting equipment in the storm drain; it’s water-based paint and I’ve been doing it for years?

The storm drain system is designed for rainwater that falls from the clouds, not contaminated material. Remember, the storm water flows into our creeks and rivers and eventually into the ocean.
