The APWA Project of the Year Award recognizes excellence, innovation and cooperation in the management and administration of public works projects through the partnership of the managing agency, consultant and contractor. The award recognizes projects that demonstrate outstanding work in areas such as project management, design, construction, safety and community impact.
The Highway 99W Pedestrian Crossing was recognized for the important connection it provides for the Sherwood community, as well as the collaboration and effort required to deliver a complex public works project.
The City extends its appreciation to our City Council, City staff, project partners, contractors and consultants who played a role in bringing the project to completion.
The pedestrian crossing opened on August 26, 2025, providing a safer and more accessible connection across Highway 99W. The project includes a 900-foot-long pedestrian and bicycle crossing consisting of five spans and was completed in time for the start of the 2025-26 school year.
