Mobile Speed Safety Cameras Moving to Sherwood Middle School
August 27, 2026The mobile speed cameras are moving the City’s mobile speed safety cameras to a new location to help improve traffic safety around Sherwood Middle School.
The cameras will be moved on Thursday, August 27, to the school zone at SW Meinecke Parkway and SW Sir Lancelot Lane. Enforcement at this location will begin Monday, August 31, 2026. There will not be a new warning or grace period when the cameras begin operating at this location.
The cameras will continue to be configured to detect vehicles traveling 11 mph or more over the posted speed limit.
Enhanced Fines in School Zones
When a school zone is active, speeding violations are subject to enhanced fines under ORS 811.235. School zone hours at this location are 7am to 5pm.
The fines for speeding violations in an active school zone are:

| 21–30 mph | Class B | $525 |
| 31+ mph | Class A | $875 |
The mobile speed safety camera program is designed to improve safety in areas where speeding is a concern. The cameras are clearly visible and are accompanied by advance warning signage and real-time speed display boards. A trained reviewer evaluates potential violations, and a sworn police officer reviews and signs each citation before it is issued.
