Deer Installation at Oregon Street Roundabout

November 3, 2025

You may have noticed some new residents moving into Sherwood last Friday!

A family of deer has officially made their home in the roundabout on Oregon Street! This beautiful bronze installation was created by Danae Bennett Miller, a talented sculptor from Tumalo, Oregon. Danae is known for her one-of-a-kind wildlife sculptures – each crafted with incredible detail and care. Her pieces are built using a lost-wax casting process, where she pours and sculpts wax sheets by hand before casting them in bronze (and sometimes glass). Every sculpture is individually sculpted, welded, sanded, and finished with a patina – making each one truly unique. This artwork was made possible through the City’s Public Art Fund, which helps bring beautiful, lasting art to our community spaces. Next time you’re driving through, be sure to wave hello to our newest Sherwood residents! 🦌
