What is a City of Sherwood business license?
February 20, 2025The City of Sherwood Municipal Code Chapter 5.04 requires any business or individual located in or working within the city limits of Sherwood to obtain a City of Sherwood business license, unless exempt under the provisions of the municipal code. This also applies to home based businesses and door to door solicitation permits.
This city business license is in addition to your State or County License (i.e. CCB, C.P.A., Medical, Law, Real Estate). In conducting business, it is the responsibility of the licensee to comply with all other applicable legal requirements, including but not limited to Building, Zoning, and Fire safety codes.
Each branch establishment of any business is considered a separate business and subject to a license.
All business licenses must be renewed annually. Business licenses expire on December 31st each year. New businesses operating in Sherwood after June 30th of the current year will pay a pro-rated fee through December 31st. Thereafter, the annual business license fee shall be due in full by January 1st of each year.
The City of Sherwood does accept the Metro license for Building and Landscape contractors who are not headquartered inside the City Limits of Sherwood. For more information about a Metro license please call (503) 797-1620 or visit their website at www.oregonmetro.gov.
