Peace Pole Walk
Calendar Date:
Friday, April 28, 2023 - 8:30am to 10:00amPeace Poles are small monuments placed across the world with over a quarter of a million in each continent. These four-sided poles say "may peace prevail on Earth", each side using a different language to serve as an international symbol of peace and diversity. On April 28th, Sherwood High School will hold a customary Peace Walk to recognize the peace poles in our community and show appreciation for our culture, resilience, and unity as a school district. It is the hope of Sherwood High School Leadership to start the walk with a biodegradable nature mandala built around the peace pole at the high school and then walk to the Ridges Elementary School to meet the elementary students to lead a nature mandala around their own peace pole. The high school leadership students will be at the Ridges at 9:00 to build the mandala which should only take 30 minutes to build and acknowledge. There may even be a speaker from the Newberg Rotary or other speakers from the community who will say a few words acknowledging resilience for peace in our community.
