Original Practice Shakespeare ROMEO & JULIET
Calendar Date:
Saturday, August 19, 2023 - 7:00pmOriginal Practice Shakespeare Festival is celebrating its 15th season with 27 plays at 11 parks in the Portland metro area—including right here in Sherwood!
Join us on Saturday, August 19 at Veterans Park for the classic Shakespeare tragedy Romeo & Juliet. The performance begins at 7 pm.
About Original Practice Shakespeare (OPS Fest):
OPS Fest brings a new style of Shakespearean performance to the Portland area by reviving the old. First Folio editions of Shakespeare's plays include all the cues an actor needs to perform his or her role without rehearsal. OPS Fest performs using the same techniques as they did in Shakespeare's own time, including limited rehearsal; scrolls in hand; an onstage prompter; fast paced, energetic acting; and lots of audience interaction. This lends a much more immediate, organic and improvisational feel to the performances.
Skilled, flexible actors will perform songs, dances and sketches throughout the event.
You’re welcome to arrive during the hour before to watch the pre-game dance and fight rehearsals. Children, picnics and leashed pups are welcome. Pack your blankets, low-back chairs and snacks before you head to the park.
Light concessions will be sold by the Sherwood Historical Society.
Veterans Park location: 22547 SW Main Street, Sherwood, OR.
