Mystery Monday Book Club @ the MSSCC: The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store
Calendar Date:
Monday, May 6, 2024 - 4:00pm
The Heaven & Earth Grocery Store by James McBride
Who a skeleton was and how it got there were two of the long-held secrets kept by the residents of Chicken Hill, the dilapidated neighborhood where immigrant Jews and African Americans lived side by side and shared ambitions and sorrows. As these characters' stories overlap and deepen, it becomes clear how much the people who live on the margins struggle and what they must do to survive. (Riverhead Books )
The Mystery Monday Book Group meets at the Marjorie Stewart Senior Community Center on the first Monday of each month at 4pm. There are a limited number of books reserved for checkout behind the front desk of the Sherwood Library a month before the meeting to discuss that book. We look forward to reading with you! Please call 503-625-5644 with any questions or to register for the discussion (though registration is not required). 62+ CLICK HERE for the full list of 2024 club selections.
