Cascades and Friends, a unique performance event
Calendar Date:
Saturday, July 1, 2023 - 7:00pmColor. Pageantry. Spectacular Music. See and hear the Seattle Cascades Drum and Bugle Corps as well as other outstanding performing ensembles in a full day of activities on July 1, 2023 at Sherwood HS. “Cascades and Friends” is sponsored by the Northwest Youth Music Association in partnership with Seafair. A recommended donation of $10 is requested for anyone over 5 years old and may be purchased at the gate or online at https://www.seattlecascades.org/2023-nw-show-tickets
The day’s activities begin with a clinic for brass, percussion and colorguard students, ages 16-21. Performers will learn marching techniques and music from the outstanding Cascades staff from 1-5pm, receive a t-shirt and eat a meal with the Seattle Cascades before the playing of the National Anthem. The clinic fee is $50 per student and also includes free admission to the evening show. Students should bring their own instrument, wear appropriate marching attire, bring sunscreen, a water bottle and wear comfortable shoes (no flip flops). For complete information go to https://www.seattlecascades.org/seattle-cascades-clinic
The evening show begins at 7pm (gates open at 6pm) and includes performances by the Knights Drum and Bugle Corps, directed by Daniel Perry, as well as other musical entertainers to be determined. The evening will conclude with the unveiling of the Seattle Cascades 2023 production “Revival” featuring “Bad Moon Rising” by Fogerty, “Stained Glass” by Gillingham, “Angel in the Architecture” by Ticheli and “Revival” by Eminem. The Cascades is led by corps director Ray Severns and executive director Michael Leone. A free program of the day’s activities and performances will be available at https://www.seattlecascades.org. Please visit our show advertisers and the concessions, which are operated by our hosts.
We invite you to visit the Cascades merchandise tent on the stadium concourse where you will find souvenir items for sale that will benefit the corps. A raffle is also being held to help with the nearly $1,000,000 in tour expenses. First prize is a DCI World Championships package August 10-12 that includes round-trip airline tickets for two on Alaska Airlines to Indianapolis, three days of DCI shows and four days of hotel reservations (value $5,000) or, as an alternative, airline tickets anywhere Alaska flies (US, Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica and Belize) plus $1,000 (value $3,500); second prize is $500; third prize is $350; and fourth prize is a custom-made chess/checkers table (value $250). Tickets are $25. You do not need to be present to win and the drawing will be held in Boise, July 11.
In its first national tour since 2019, the Cascades will travel some 10,000 miles and compete in 23 performances before the August Drum Corps International Championships at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indiana.
So, join us for the marching/music clinic with the Pacific Northwest’s only DCI World Class Corps and a great evening of family entertainment at “Cascades and Friends” on July 1. Tickets for both the clinic and show may be purchased in advance at https://www.seattlecascades.org/2023-nw-show-tickets or at the stadium day of the event.
