Sherwood Citizens University

Q: What is the Sherwood Citizens University?
A: The University is a series of classes for Sherwood citizens who are interested in learning more about how their city government operates. Classes will be taught by various City Senior Leaders and staff with the goal of engaging Sherwood residents and helping them to prepare to serve in a range of civic leadership capacities within our city.
Q: What is the time commitment to participate in the University?
The first session of Sherwood Citizens University will kick off on Thursday, March 5th, 2020 with additional sessions to be held on the following Thursdays: March 12th, 19th, April 2nd, 9th, 16th and 23rd. We will be taking the week of March 26th off for Spring break. All sessions will be held from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm. Participants must indicate on their application an ability to attend at least 80 percent of the scheduled sessions.
Q: Do I need prior experience to participate?
A: Absolutely not – you only need to be a Sherwood resident, care about the community, and be willing to learn and share your thoughts and ideas!
Q: So what is the application process?
A: This educational program is structured to be a small-group setting so we are limiting class size to 20 participants. If you would like to be considered for the University, your first step is to complete the online application. Applications will be accepted until 5:00 pm on Friday, February 7th, 2020. Completed applications will be reviewed and applicants will learn the results no later than Friday, February 14th, 2020.
