Nonprofits do need a business license unless you are currently licensed under Oregon’s Charitable Trust and Corporation Act (ORS 128.610 et seq.) conducting a business in the city as a means to raise funds for said organization’s charitable purposes.

The new owner shall obtain a new business license for the business. Business licenses cannot be transferred. Notify us know that you sold your business by emailing businesslicensing@sherwoodoregon.gov or by calling (503) 625-4237. You are also welcome to visit the Community Development Department on the second floor of City Hall for in-person support.

Business licenses expire on December 31st each year. License renewal shall be made prior to a license’s expiration and are considered late if received after February 15. Each branch or location of a business is regarded as a separate establishment and requires its own business license. 

New and Renewal ​Business license applications are submitted online. If you didn’t receive your renewal email (October/November), please check your spam folder. You can also complete a renewal application with the online business license application.
