Sherwood West Preliminary Concept Plan

The City of Sherwood has submitted a request to Metro to include land in Sherwood West in their 2018 Urban Growth Boundary (UGB) expansion. This page provides a timeline, project information and documents related to the proposed 2018 UGB expansion.

Sherwood West Preliminary Concept Plan
The Sherwood West Preliminary Concept Plan is a study of 1,291 acres of Urban Reserve designated land located west and north of the existing city limits. Urban reserves are areas that Metro will look at first when considering expansion of the Urban Growth Boundary.   The Plan represents a significant step in beginning a community discussion about growth, urban development, and governance with Sherwood residents and the landowners in the study area.  It is the result of a yearlong process, with extensive public outreach and discussion with area property owners.

The Plan was developed as a long-range planning tool to help guide future community discussions and decisions about how our community could grow over the next 50 years and illustrates how the Sherwood West area could be incorporated into the fabric of the City over time. By thinking about where best to build housing, protect farmland and build or expand roads and utilities today, we hope to keep Sherwood a safe, thriving and healthy community tomorrow. The City Council accepted the preliminary concept plan at the February 16, 2016 meeting

Current Project Updates:

Metro is already in the process of gathering information for the next urban growth report that will inform the next decision on expansion of the regions Urban Growth Boundary, and because of the City’s forethought on the Sherwood West area, we are one step ahead of many communities in ensuring that if the area north and west of Sherwood is considered as an expansion area that we have already began the conversation.  To review the plan click on the link below.
