Below is a list of Planning Department new items.

March 10, 2022, Governor Kate Brown issued Executive Order 20-04, directing state agencies to reduce climate pollution.  Executive Order 20-04 was in response to Oregon not meeting its climate pollution reduction goals, one of which was adopted in 2007 by state legislators in 2007 to reduce the state’s climate pollution by 75% by 2050.

The City is updating its Economic Opportunities Analysis (EOA).   The EOA identifies existing and emerging economic opportunities within the Sherwood Urban Growth Boundary to establish a clear economic development direction for our community consistent with local, regional, and state market trends and planning policies. An EOA is required by Oregon State Land Use Goal 9, Economic Development.

About the Project

The City of Sherwood is undertaking a development code audit and needed development code amendments to support a range of community housing choices. The development code audit project aims to understand the existing barriers and future solutions to promote a larger supply of housing options for the community. Amendments to the development code will provide an opportunity for a variety of housing types at various price points community members at different stages of life such as

COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND ADOPTION PROCESS

Like all cities in Oregon, we must plan for current and future generations. We know that communities that plan for growth have the best chance of managing their destiny in a way that retains the qualities that brought us here in the first place: our small-town character, forests and farms, excellent schools, thriving businesses, and parks, and public spaces.

The Sherwood Municipal Code is amended to reflect City ballot measure 34-299 approved by the voters in November 2020.

Proposal:  The applicant, Langer Family LLC, proposes a five lot subdivision, with lots ranging from 0.5 acres to 8.24 acres, a 92,899 square foot indoor entertainment and recreation fun center, 32,408 square feet of retail space across for buildings and a 392 square foot drive through coffee kiosk.  

Election Signs During election season, we frequently receive questions about the City’s rules regarding election signs.  The guide below provides an overview of the rules applicable to the type of election sign we receive the most questions about—what the Sherwood Zoning and Community Development Code (SZCDC) refers to as “portable signs,” and specifically portable signs attached to a wood or wire h-frame stake driven into the ground.

An e-news feature has been added to the City of Sherwood Website which will replace the Planning Notifications email group.   This will provide weekly emails with any changes made to pages on the Planning Department’s website.  The email provides a list of pages changed, but does not indicate what the change is.
