Industrial Uses Update
The city launched a project to update the allowed uses on all industrially zoned properties. It is envisioned that the end result will be more clarity and more uses permitted. Specifically, we are exploring modifications to the use categories in the development code. This is the list of uses that are allowed, allowed conditionally, or not permitted in the city. The development code houses the rules and regulations that guide the way a project looks and the type of uses permitted.
We have held a number of public meetings with the Planning Commission and property owners to get input on key issues and concerns with the existing use categories. After several meetings and discussions, we have developed draft amendments to the uses. The main goal of the amendments is to be less specific with the types of uses allowed and more specific with the types of uses that we do not want to see. The overall goal is to provide more clarity and certainty for potential developers regarding the uses that will be allowed while continuing to protect the community from undesirable uses.
For more information go to the Industrial Uses Code Amendments page.
