Planning Commission
Vacancy Announcement
The City of Sherwood is currently accepting applications for Planning Commission. Applicants must reside in the City limits or be non-residents of the City, provided they reside within the Sherwood portion of the Urban Growth Boundary. This vacancy is for a partial term, expiring June 2026.
Applications are due no later than Friday, April 12, 2024, at 5:00 PM.

The Commission meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 pm for regular meetings. The Commission may meet earlier in the evenings for a work session. Current agendas are posted one week before the meeting and are found on the city’s meeting page. Meetings are held at City Hall, 22560 SW Pine Street, Sherwood, Oregon and are live-streamed to the City’s YouTube Channel.
The Commission consists of seven volunteer members appointed to a four-year term. Commissioners must be Sherwood residents or reside within the Urban Growth Boundary. The Commission reviews development applications based on the review and understanding of the Sherwood Zoning and Development Code criteria.
The Commission reviews the following
- Site plan review for proposed development greater than 40,000 square feet
- Site plan reviews for proposed development in the Old Town Overlay
- Subdivisions over 50 lots
- Class A variances
The Commission review and makes a recommendation to City Council on the following
- Plan map amendments
- Plan text amendments to either the Development Code or Comprehensive Plan
- Planned Unit Developments
- Special and technical planning documents such as: Housing Needs Analysis, Economic Opportunities Analysis, Parks Master Plan, Urban Renewal Plan, Town Center Plan, Brookman Concept Plan, etc.

Oregon Revised Statutes 244.050 requires certain city officials to file an annual Statement of Economic Interest (SEI) with the Oregon Government Ethics Commission (OGEC) by April 15 of each year. Officials who are required to file include the Mayor, City Councilors, Planning Commissioners, City Manager, and Municipal Court Judge. Public officials who fail to file their SEI in a timely manner could be liable for a civil penalty of up to $5,000 and/or suspension from performing their official duties.
