Road Closures on Baker Road

The City is pleased to announce that our transmission pipeline project is scheduled to begin on January 18, 2010. The water pipeline was sourced locally out of Portland, Oregon and will span nearly 3.5 miles. Emery & Sons is the construction company that will handle the project.

The installation of the pipeline has been broken down into four segments. The first segment will begin on Sunset Boulevard and Pine Street and travel east on Sunset Boulevard and then south on Baker Road toward McConnell Road. This portion of the pipe is approximately one mile long and is scheduled to be completed in eight to twelve months. The remaining three segments of the pipeline will be installed outside of the City limits along Baker Road and Tooze Road.

How will this affect me?
Residents who drive through Sherwood will be affected in their daily commutes. The City has worked extensively with Clackamas and Washington Counties to create efficient detour routes. The first segment of the pipeline will close a portion of Baker Road and Sunset Boulevard to through traffic. Of course, local traffic will be guided by flaggers and traffic signs. Two detour routes have been approved, they can also be viewed here on the detour map.

Detour 1 – Take Sunset Boulevard to Main Street to 1st Street to Oregon Street.
Detour 2 – Take Sunset Boulevard to Ladd Hill Road to Pleasant Hill Road to McConnell Road to Tooze Road to Baker Road.

The pipeline project represents Phase II of our SureWater Project to meet the future water demand of our growing City. It will link our reservoir in Snyder Park to the Willamette River Water Treatment Plant in Wilsonville, Oregon. It is scheduled for completion in 2012. The project has been funded by residential and commercial utility bills, system development charges, as well as a low interest Safe Drinking Water loan from the State.
