Library Board

The Library Board is appointed by the City Council. The Board advises the Council and Library staff on Library polices and planning. Citizen members are appointed for four year terms.  The duties and responsibilities of the Board include the following:

  • Evaluate community needs and resources to guide the provision of Library services to the community;
  • Establish long-range plans, goals, and objectives for the Library and the improvement and maintenance of the Library building;
  • Regularly review and revise Library objectives;
  • Promote public participation and awareness programs to increase the use of the Library;
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as may be designated by City Council or requested by Library staff;
  • Advise on Library rules, regulations, and other matters.

Members serve as Board officers, participate in Library activities, and serve on the Friends of the Library. 

The Library Board meets on the third Wednesday of every other month at 6:30pm. The meetings are held at the Sherwood City Hall, 22560 SW Pine Street.
