Wine Grapes

Gateway to Wine Country:
Sherwood is situated along Highway 99W, just northeast of Newberg, making it well-positioned to become the Gateway to Wine Country. Due to the distinctive terroir of the rich and fertile Willamette Valley, Oregon vineyards and wineries produce some of the most sought-after wines in the world. The City of Sherwood  is reviewing development codes and zoning, and the Economic Development Department is working with interested parties to promote the City as a vineyard and winery-friendly location and a destination for wine tourism.

For more information about the process of starting a wine-based business in Sherwood, do not hesitate to contact Bruce Coleman at the City of Sherwood. For information on how to enjoy Wine Country, visit the Willamette Valley Wineries website.

Snyder Park Soccer Field

Sports Town USA:
Sherwood is a regional destination for youth and amateur sporting events. The Sherwood Urban Renewal Agency has made strategic investments to offer top-notch sporting facilities, ideal for local and regional sports competitions. In 2003, the Agency converted a portion of the City owned Public Works facility into an indoor soccer complex, with restrooms, bleachers, a party room and a state of the art indoor field complete with artificial turf. The City has since partnered with local youth sports organizations and the YMCA to program activities and events in the facility. In 2004, the Agency, in partnership with the Sherwood School District, installed a new Turf Field artificial surface at the High School stadium. In addition, the district participated in the funding of new lights at the High School and middle school fields, and invested in the new stadium at the High School, increasing capacity and use for community and regional groups.
