Common Violations Include:

Overgrown grass or weeds
Sherwood Municipal Code requires citizens to mow their lawns on a regular basis.  Grass or weeds cannot exceed ten inches in height. SMC 8.16.160.D & 9.44.020.

Accumulation of Junk
Outdoor storage of junk is not allowed per the Municipal Code.  Items such as a barbecue grill, patio furniture, and stacked firewood are allowed, but other items such as waste building materials, auto parts, and appliances must be stored indoors or disposed of.  SMC 8.16.160.J, 9.44.030 & 9.44.50.

Sherwood Municipal code prohibits any unregistered motor vehicle from being parked, kept or stored on any premises and no vehicle shall be in a state of major disassembly, disrepair or in the process of being stripped or dismantled outside of a garage or other allowed enclosure.  SMC 8.16.160.H.

Additionally, vehicle parking is allowed only on improved shoulders that meet City standards for public streets, within garages, carports and other structures, or on driveways or parking lots that have been developed in conformance with the code.  SMC 16.94.010. E. 3.

Trees or bushes blocking the sidewalk
Sidewalks must be kept free of obstructions.  It is each property owner’s responsibility to maintain the sidewalk area in front of their residence or business.  All tree branches must be trimmed up to 7 feet high over sidewalks and vegetation shall not impede sidewalk use.  SMC 9.44.030 & 16.58.010.  See the link to the Clear Vision Brochure on the Code Compliance home page for more information.

Home business
A home business is allowed in the City of Sherwood. They are regulated in the Home Occupation ordinance.  SMC 16.42.

RV on private property

Vehicles must be stored within designated improved off-street parking areas. These areas must meet the screening and landscaping requirements in the code.  SMC 16.98.010.

 

The Sherwood Police Department has jurisdiction over all on street parking violations.
